How to Care for Your Lash Extensions Like a Pro (for Long-Lasting Retention)
Hey gorgeous — let’s talk lash care 💋
You’ve just invested in a fresh, fluffy set of luxury lash extensions — now it’s time to make them last!
At GG Lash Co., I’m all about creating healthy, long-lasting lashes that stay beautiful between fills. And the secret to great retention? How you care for your lashes at home.
Here’s exactly how to care for your lash extensions like a total pro 👇
🧖♀️ 1. Keep Them Clean (Really Clean)
Clean lashes last longer — and they’ll look better, too.
Oil, sweat, and buildup can collect along your lash line, and while it won’t “break down adhesive” like some myths say, it can affect how cleanly new lashes bond during your fill appointment.
💧 My professional recommendation:
Wash your lashes 2–3 times a week with a gentle lash shampoo.
If you prefer to cleanse daily (especially if you wear skincare or work out often), use an ocular cleanser like Ocusoft or Ocusoft Platinum.
These products are gentle enough for your eyes, keep your lash line clean, and help you maintain that flawless, fresh-set feeling.
💦 2. You Can Get Your Lashes Wet — Promise
There’s no need to “wait 24 hours” anymore — that’s an outdated rule!
Modern adhesives (and proper curing) mean your lashes are safe to get wet immediately after your appointment.
Feel free to shower, wash your face, or even cry happy tears 😉 — your set will be just fine.
💕 3. Brush Them Daily
Use a clean spoolie to gently brush your lashes every morning (and after showers).
This helps keep them fluffy, separated, and perfectly in place.
Pro tip: Brush upward and outward to maintain your shape and prevent tangling.
💤 4. Sleep Smart
Face-sleeping can cause premature shedding and bent lashes.
Try sleeping on your back or invest in a silk or satin pillowcase to minimize friction while you sleep.
Your lashes (and your skin!) will thank you.
💄 5. Makeup & Skincare Tips
You don’t have to avoid oil-based products forever — just keep them off your lashes on the day of your appointment.
After that, it’s totally fine to use your normal skincare products, as long as you cleanse your lash line regularly.
Skip waterproof mascara or heavy eyeliners though — they can be tough to remove and cause unnecessary buildup.
💬 6. Book Regular Fills
Your natural lashes shed daily, so fills every 2–3 weeks are key to keeping your set full and balanced.
If you wait too long between fills, you’ll lose your shape and fullness — and might need a full set instead.
🌸 7. Trust the Process
Lash care doesn’t have to be complicated — just consistent.
A few simple habits will make a massive difference in how your lashes look and last.
When you take care of your extensions, you’re protecting your investment and keeping your natural lashes healthy underneath.
